Love and Light: A Memoir on Empowerment and Enlightenment
My name means "love and light." I've realized why I had to go through and continue to go through purification on my journey. I realized at a young age that I could only achieve empowerment and enlightenment, which I referred to as love and light if I accepted the dark and painful, sometimes seemingly desperate, experiences. Through these years, I was able to grow and mature in a joyful manner because of this mindset. My consciousness was never filled with bitterness, resentment, or regret.
As far as I can recall, this fascinating journey into love and light began when I was four years old, the age when I lost my mother to cancer and my father to his second marriage two years later. Losing both parents at such a young age was excruciatingly painful and difficult, but it provided me with the power and strength to overcome setbacks and negativity. I carried these with me as I progressed through life, from one stage to the next, from one location to the next. My heart and mind were transformed by the affection and care of my relatives in Bacolod City from the moment my mother died until I was ten, up until the guardianship of my stepmother in Plaridel, Bulacan during my pre and early teenage years, and finally, my father's homecoming from working abroad that gave me the love and guidance during my early adult life transformed my heart and mind into the empowered and enlightened human being that I am now.
