 Reminiscence: Cambodia

Imagine temple-hopping under the heat of the Khmer sun in the middle of the day! You would perhaps surrender on the steps of the Angkor Wat and just stayed still with a fan and bottled water in your hand.

But we never did! My friend, Mylene, and I completed the temple tour from 10 in the morning and ended it on top of Bakheng Hill to witness the stunning sunset. 

We had to wrap our hair with a shawl to protect it from the dust and heat as we trekked around Siem Reap with our cameras and explored seven temples, including the one where Angelina Jolie shot the movie, "Tomb Raider", called Ta Prohm. Our route brought us to Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom, Ba Yon Temple, Ta Prohm Temple, Ba Phuon Temple, Terrace of the Elephants, and finally, Phnom Bakheng. These temples, located within the Angkor Wat Archeological Park, had been challenging, albeit fulfilling to an uninitiated culture enthusiast. 

Apart from temples, the most poignant stop was the "killing fields" glass cases that housed the victims' skeletal remains of the Khmer Rouge atrocities. 

Since our flight from Siem Reap was around 11 pm and we already checked out of our hotel room, we decided to have a massage in a Thai spa of the hotel just to take a shower and board the plane refreshed and ready to sleep for the duration of the flight back to the Philippines- she to Pampanga, and I to Bacolod.🌷
